I have possibly cried more over non-fiction storytelling than over fiction. So I’d say emotional storytelling is the relevant point here, that is, the style of the story, not whether it’s fictional or non-fictional. Because sometimes even fanfiction doesn’t offer the characters I can identify with enough to make that emotional connection. But they are in some kinds of non-fiction, so that’s where I go to find them.

Non-fiction is so much more than just news reports. (Think about it for a minute: most personal blogging is in fact non-fiction. And that’s just one example.)

This freaks me out a lot, but it was too cool to not reblog.

I wish it were a little slower, but this goes to show how important a director of photography is on set. Different gels and light sources make a HUGE difference on how someone looks on camera. So next time you see someone and think “god, she’s gorgeous and I’ll never look like that” be aware that lighting is an art form and a good DP can completely transform the face. The image you find to be unobtainable, might be manufactured by lighting or makeup or all of the above.

Plus lighting is awesome and I think it’s important for people to realize just how important it is in storytelling.
